About WUR Prime Diagnostics

WUR Biointeractions & Plant Health at Seed Meets Technology

At Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the Business Unit Biointeractions & Plant Health plays a pivotal role in ensuring healthy seeds and resilient cropping systems. Our research addresses challenges across the plant health spectrum – from soil biology and crop protection to diagnostics and pollination. We aim to support crop health at every stage of cultivation. At Seed Meets Technology, we will showcase practical tools, innovative solutions, and our scientific expertise across diverse research themes.

We are at the forefront of the development of plant disease diagnostics and detection for QA/QC in seed health. Reliable detection is the cornerstone of effective crop health management. Drawing on expertise in molecular biology, phytopathology, and immunology, our interdisciplinary teams address plant health challenges across a large range of crops and environments.

This work is closely linked to Prime Diagnostics, which provides high-quality reagents and diagnostic tools to clients worldwide. Their focus is on plant pathogenic viruses, bacteria and fungi. By integrating customer needs and scientific innovation, Prime Diagnostics ensures that research outcomes are translated into practical, field-ready tests for end users. Our solutions range from the development of  on-site tests to turn-key  systems for seed health laboratories (Prime Support).

Lastly, our work extends to food safety and phytosanitary research, where we assess and manage the risks of regulated pathogens and toxins. By identifying key control points in the supply chain, we help stakeholders make evidence-based decisions for quality control and quality assurance.

Visitors to our stand will discover how we support an integrated approach to plant health, which contributes to a more resilient and productive future for agriculture. We will showcase recent innovations for seed-related research questions we work on, as well as diagnostic tools for multiplex detection of plant pathogens.  We look forward to meet you at Seed Meets Technology, exchange experiences and share our knowledge, tools, and innovations.
