In the seed industry, you see more and more transport systems based on vacuum. This appears to be a good alternative for transporting all sorts of seeds to various process equipment. The transport systems are compact, quiet and easy to install. But in addition there are a number of factors that are important: how clean is the system after transport, and can the system damage the seeds? If a system is properly set up, with the right diameter pipe with as few obstacles as possible, you have a clean system, where no seed remains. This makes setup time as short as possible. In addition, a gradual air transport ensures that seeds are not damaged during transport. It is even possible to remove part of the dust from the seeds during transport, so that dumping in e.g. a coater with less dust is possible.
Vacuum systems from Volkmann are used at a capacity of several tens of kilos per hour, up to 4,000 kg of product transport per hour. Since a vacuum system is installed “on top” of a production installation, it is no longer necessary to install bottom unloaders or tippers at height. As a result, a reduction of forklift truck work can of course be realized. Transport usually takes place from the ground level to the top of the installation (6 to 8 meters vertically, 15 to 20 meters in total). At the bottom of the sieve or coater, the product is picked up again by the following vacuum transport system, arranged above the next processing or packaging installation.
During the meeting, possible solutions, points for attention and of course already supplied installations will be discussed.
