Over 5 years ago, Certhon and HW Seeds started a joint venture to revolutionise the way cherry and snack tomatoes are grown commercially. Certhon developed the technical installations to create the optimum growing environment while HW Seeds focussed on breeding a determinate tomato with the right growth characteristics, quality and taste profile.
Certhon is a Horti-Tech company with over 125 years’ experience in building turn-key greenhouse and projects and Indoor Farms. HW Seeds specialises in developing tomatoes, focusing on taste and quality.
The result of this cooperation is a snack tomato which can be grown fully automated without virtually any manual labour. By combining the right technology and genetics, the tomatoes can be grown with consistent quality and predictable yield year round.
During the presentation we will discuss actions taken and how a seed and technology company together achieved this successful outcome.
